Cold Steel Leatherneck-SF (German D2)

Leatherneck-SF from COLD STEEL is a field knife with a fixed blade. The SF in the knife's designation is an abbreviation of Semper Fi (the U. S. Marine Corps motto "Always Faithful").

The Cold Steel Leatherneck line has a distinctive handle shape and two distinct blade types. While the Clip Point blade is seen as versatile and is favored by members of the military and Rescue Rescure groups, the Tanto blade has been "adopted" by members across the armed services. The "American Tanto" has a reinforced secondary tip for extra chopping strength. The Cold Steel Leatherneck has a blade made of D2 steel. It is a die steel suitable for cold forging with a higher additive content. Especially the chromium and carbon content are high. The steel has a high wear resistance, holds the edge very well, but the machinability decreases with it and it is harder to renew the edge. It is relatively corrosion resistant, but it is not stainless steel. Therefore, the blade is treated with an anti-corrosive, non-reflective black powder coating for safety. The strength of the knife is provided by the full tang construction and the solid handle is finished with a thick steel cap (not cheap cast or plastic as we see with similar designs from competitors on the market) This makes it possible to use the back of the handle, in an emergency, as a hammer! The handle is made of Griv-Ex™ material. It is a handle material with unique properties and is significantly stronger than Zy-Ex. The material is not subject to moisture, temperature changes, or warping. The deep texture offers amazing anti-slip properties of the handle. For safe and comfortable carrying of Leatherneck knives, each blade is equipped with a rugged and versatile Secure-Ex® military sheath.
